Quick reference for pairing, streaming, recommended iPhone settings, and a reset procedure when something is not behaving the way it should.

Step 1

Bluetooth pairing with your iPhone

Use this sequence the first time you pair your Earlens devices, or any time you need to start fresh.

Remove both devices from your ears.
On your iPhone, open Settings, then Accessibility, then Hearing Devices.
Look for your device information near the top of the Hearing Devices menu. It should read along the lines of "XYZ Hearing Devices."
Tap the > arrow on the right side of that box.
Tap the blue Forget this device option, then confirm.
Press and hold the bottom buttons on the processors (opposite the cable) for 5 seconds.
Place the processors in the charger.
After a second or two, you should see 4 blinking lights.
Remove both processors from the charger.
Press and hold the top buttons on the processors (closest to the cable) for 5 seconds.
Place both devices back in the charger.
After a second or two, you should see 2 to 4 solid lights. If only 1 solid light shows, the battery needs more charge before you can continue.
On your iPhone, go back to Settings, then Accessibility, then Hearing Devices.
Remove both devices from the charger and hold them near the phone.
The names of both devices should populate on the top line.
The line will read either Connected or Not Paired on the right side.
If it shows Not Paired, tap the arrow to the right of the text.
A Bluetooth Pairing Request window will pop up.
Tap Pair.
Your devices should now show as Connected on the previous screen (use the blue Back arrow at the top left).

Step 2

How to send audio (calls, music, video, audiobooks) directly to your Earlens devices instead of the phone speaker.

Swipe down from the upper right corner of the phone, near the battery icon, toward the center of the screen.
A menu opens showing Airplane Mode, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and similar toggles.
Look immediately to the right of that menu for a play box with Play, Fast Forward, and Rewind controls.
In the upper right corner of that play box, you will see either an ear symbol or the AirDrop symbol (a triangle with concentric arcs).
Tap that symbol. Either icon works.
Scroll down to see the available audio outputs (iPhone, Speaker, Hearing Aids, and so on).
If your hearing aids already show as connected, that is normal. You are streaming.
Note that when you start a video, music, or audiobook, audio defaults to the phone speaker.
To send sound directly to your hearing aids, open this menu, scroll to your hearing aids, and tap them. Audio will switch over.
It feels a little cumbersome at first. After a few times, the whole switch takes about three seconds.

The recommended baseline configuration for the best Earlens experience on iPhone.

Step 4

If your devices are not connecting, charging, or streaming correctly, walk through this reset before calling support.

Reset the device by turning it off first. Press and hold the bottom button on the hearing device (the one furthest from the wire) for 5 seconds.
Place the device in the charger. If you see 4 blinking lights, the device shut off correctly.
Remove the device. Press and hold the top button (closest to the wire) for 5 seconds. This turns the device back on.
Place the device back in the charger.
Confirm solid lights, indicating a charging state. If the lights are still blinking, the button was not held long enough. Repeat the process.
A single solid light means the device still needs more charge. To stream audio, you need at least 2 solid lights, and 3 is preferable.
